Romantic Anniversary Dinner under $60pp

  • 4

I'm looking for help choosing a romantic restaurant for an anniversary dinner for two. The budget is $60 per person before tax and tip. We're not big drinkers, but if there's room there for two glasses of wine, that would be nice, but not a must. I'm looking for something that feels like a special occasion restaurant with high quality food.

Wiling to drive anywhere in LA and North Orange Counties. For reference, we're in the South Bay and we like places like The Bazaar, Little Next Door, Rivera, Providence (who doesn't), Water Grill, Angeli. Looking to try a new place.

I've looked around this site and a few places have caught my eye:
Eva
Bouchon
Valentino
Il Cielo
AOC
Lucques
Hatfield's
Little Door (though it seems it gets mixed reviews here)

The dinner would most likely be Sunday night, though it could also be Saturday.

Would any of these fit the romantic/special occasion, great food and price requirements?

I welcome any and all suggestions. Thank you!

  1. I'm not sure you can get out of any of these places for $60 per person.
If you go on a Sunday night, however, at least Lucques and Eva have special Sunday suppers that are generally a bit less expensive than the regular menu, and they would then work.
Eva and AOC are my two choices of providing the best opportunity to stay within budgetary limitations.
Lucques and Hatfield's are my two favorites for romantic, yet I have not been to Il Cielo in forever, but it was nice back then.

      Thanks for your reply.

Just to make it clear, I'm not limiting my choice to the restaurants I mentioned. Any suggestions are very welcome.

    2. Michael's On Naples in Long Beach would be a great choice. If it's a warm evening (which is likely at this time of year) ask for a nice table on the upstairs patio. When you make your reservation, be sure to let them know it's an anniversary...they'll take great care of you. $60 PP before tax and tip should not be a problem if you're careful. Perhaps split a starter or a pasta to begin, then have an entree and I'll bet they'll send over a comp dessert. You likely can even get a glass of wine for this price. This is a classy spot...perhaps the best in Long Beach...and if Michael is there and knows it's an occasion, you'll be treated especially well.
p.s. If you like Angeli, you'll love Michael's!

      1. I recommend Lucques for the Sunday supper. $45 pp (for food only) and a really lovely setting, regardless of whether you're inside or on the back patio.
