Anyone know? I don't recall seeing it at Wegmans or World Market or anywhere like that. Thanks.

  1. I've bought Marmite at the World Market in Friendship Heights on several occasions, but not recently.

    1. Just bought some Marmite at World Market in Bailey's Crossroads. They used to sell a large jar but this time, only a small one.

      1. I've bought Marmite at the Giant, of all places. They have it with the British food.

        1. Yikes! Why would you want to do that? hahaha Just kidding---I know it is an acquired taste.

          1. they have marmite at wegmans. it's in the uk and the spices section.

            1. I actually have a followup question - I've had vegemite but not marmite, but have heard that they're similar. Do they taste pretty much the same? I like vegemite but it seems marmite is easier to find around here.

              1. I have seen it at Giant, but Rodman's always has it. Having a giggle with Elyssa because I find it inedible, as well.....

My first exposure to Vegemite/Marmite was when I was at overnight camp and the British and Australian counselors use to eat it at breakfast (they brought their own supply for the summer). We would dare each other to try it. I never got use to the taste. Ugh!

                  1. re: Elyssa

My closest friend is British and lived here for years. We were always on the lookout fo Marmite. She thought peanut butter was inedible.

                2. did you ever find any? I just moved to DC and am almost out. I brought the remnants of my jar from NYC just in case. :-)

I see that no one ever answered your question below. Marmite doesn't taste as good as Vegemite; Marmite tastes slightly different. I only eat Marmite if there really is no Vegemite!!

                  1. I've seen it at Marvelous Market on Capitol Hill (7th Street by Eastern Market).

okay great will check out next wk. otherwise was going to check out Cost Plus World Market (both locations) since it's at least on their website for sale. worst case scenario: order from their online store.

I bought Marmite at World Market at Friendship Heights about 3 months ago - they had plenty at that time. I bought 5 jars!

yeah well i'm not looking for marmite. that's easy to get. it's vegemite that requires more effort (because it tastes better! )

                          1. re: sedela

Totally disagree! I'm a Marmite fan. Anyway, World Marekt usually carries both however 2 weeks ago, the one at Bailey's Crossroads (VA) was out of both but Kingstowne (also VA) had them both in stock. Worth a phone call before you head out to shop.

well i don't have a car and am in the city. saw that i could get to Friendship Heights and Pentagon City ones. Def will call if the Eastern Market thing doesn't work out. Thanks guys.

                      2. re: 79pooh83

turns out Marvelous Market on Cap Hill only has marmite.

                      3. Rodman's, Cost Plus (Rockville and Friendship both have big jars), and Wegman's all have Vegemite. It's really not hard to find in the DC metro.
