[SXM] Food Shops and Lolo's

My wife and I will be staying at Divi Little Bay for our honeymoon in a couple of weeks and would like some suggestions. All of the fine dining stuff looks pretty well covered already so I am in search of info for good food shops and Lolo's. We will probably be doing breakfasts at the hotel, and also lunch if we are just relaxing at the resort beach. Is there anything near Phillipsburg to get the basics? What are the best places on the island to purchase charcuterie, cheese, and wine?

Several of the days we plan to venture out and hit some of the beaches. Any good Lolo rec's for:

Baie Rouge
Orient Beach (fairly well covered already)
Happy Bay / Friar's Bay
Ilet Pinel

Any and all info is appreciated.

Thanks!

Grand Marche has several stores on the Dutch side. The 2 closest to the French side are in Cole Bay(not too far outside of Marigot) and near Philipsburg. They are American style super markets wth a large variety of things. There is also Fresh Market which is near the Great Salt Pond on the way to Orient Bay from Philipsburg.

Spend time mostly on the french side so I can't speak to what's in Phiilipsburg, but I believe there is a Grand Marche there which will have everything you need. Big french style supermarche. You can pick up cheese, charcuterie and wine there as well as all the basics. There's a great bakery in the french quarter.

If you have not discovered it yet, you should check out this site www.sxm-info.com

They have a page on grocery stores on the island http://www.sxm-shopping.com/groceries...

As to lolos, in Grand Case, I prefer No. 6 which is the one on the right in the very back by the water when you are facing them from the street.

Orient beach is pleasant but very crowded. Pinel is ok, but again overrun. Best way to go is with your own boat. Once the day trippers leave, its a much better place to be.

I much prefer Baie Rouge. If you go, check out Chez Raymond and try the fish sandwich and grilled chicken.

For fine dining, you really need to go to and explore Grand Case.

I have not been back to Grande Case in 3 years but LOVED it very much. Little shops, cool vibe...tres chic...We had a mediocre dinner at a French Restaurant recommended by our hotel but did see some great places and menus. I defer to others who dined more recently. Skys the Limit Lolo looked great. I am in Marigot twice a year and loved Tropicana, Le Vie en Rose to name a few...
