This summer's peaches...so far, so good
I'm into my second basket of peaches. Have only had clingstones so far, from Norfolk Country, and they have been very sweet. After a blah strawberry season, I'm pretty happy about my other favourite summertime fruit.
My wife picked up a basket from Riverdale Farmer's market this afternoon. Haven't tried them yet.

I'm on my second basket as well. Most have been juicy, but some have been juicy and somewhat sour, rather than juicy and sweet. So far, none of the peaches have been mealy. I've been paying $4.99 for 3 litre baskets of Red Havens.
If anyone sees any varieties of freestone peaches for sale in TO or the London/Stratford area, please post. ;-)
I had a peach from Niagara-on-the-Lake this weekend and it was delicious. It was quite small, but very juicy and peachy. The farmer told me that the weather has played havoc with the crop -- the peaches ripened too early. He normally would leave them on the trees another couple of weeks, but his were ready NOW.
