Lobsterfest in Rockland
We'll be there tomorrow but also am interested in specific restaurants along that part of the Maine coast where you can get the most "bang for your buck". Love any seafood but prefer it anyway but fried. Have never been to this part of the US and will spend a week in the area. Thanks in advance!

If we're going simple on value, I'd recommend a few things. Right across main street from the Lobster Festival is Bricks - they have a $5 lunch menu...and while I wouldn't call most items on the menu a foodie delight...they do have a pretty good brick oven pizza. 5 bucks can get you a very good small pizza (the specials vary, but there's a great maine shrimp/herbed butter option) and a coke is a good deal.
Also very close to the Festival is a place called Sweets & Meats...its sort of an upscale deli / bakery. Very good sandwiches made from quality meats and cheeses.
Further down main street is Lily Bistro...and they have a very good lunch menu. A giant Caldwell Farms burger with Brie and a side of frites will set you back around 12 bucks...and they usually have very decent house wine that goes for 5 bucks a glass.
Even further down main street (near Dunkin Donuts) is Home Kitchen Cafe...the absolute BEST place for breakfast in town. A carni breakfast sandwich on homemade oatmeal toast with a side of homefries...under 10 bucks. Also great lunches, including lobster options...and the new, fantastic "Banh Home" sandwich.
Now, if you want to experience the best restaurant in Maine on the cheap...head to the antipasti bar at Primo (no reservations required) and order off the antipasti menu and bar menu (great small plates - some of which are very sizeable)...including the Tuscan pork ribs. Or even pizza and burgers. It's possible to come out of there spending less than 100 for two...if you limit your alcohol intake. There ARE a couple glasses in the 10 range...or bottles in the high 20's.
Amalfi on the Water has some deck seating overlooking the harbor, and while I don't usually order entrees...I do enjoy the drinks and apps (they have a cheaper bar menu).
Enjoy!
