San Marino/Urbino recommendations?

Hi all,

My 6-yr old son is dying to visit more than one country during our upcoming (as in tomorrow) trip to Italy so we'll be heading to San Marino for half a day. Any recomendations for a Sunday lunch in or around the Republic?

We're also staying at an agriturismo right outside of Urbino...we'll primarily be eating there, but if there are any treats not to be missed in Urbino, please share.

Many thanks!

heycome on, you can visit (in rome) Vatican City and the little Knights of Malta enclave near the Spanish steps. http://geography.about.com/od/politic...

No recommendations for the Republic, sorry. There are some slowfood places you might want to consider in surrounding towns in E-R and Marche. To use the Chowhound Restaurant search to find some of them, put San Marino,IT into the place box, then use the map that results by checking the box directing a search in the map then hitting the minus sign multiple times to zoom out and moving around in the map, you will see them appear, including

Osteria la Gran Fritto La Buca in Cesanatico

    La Marianna in Rimini

La Sangiovesa in Santarcangelo di Romagna

Osteria degli Ultimi in Tavullia (Marche)

I ate at La Marianna in Rimini and was not wild about it. I especially would not battle my way into Rimini in August to eat there.

If your agriturismo is not NeNe, then you might want to head over there for a meal one night. I believe they also serve pizza.

There is a wonderful cheap specialty in Urbino called crescia sflogiata, which is a pressed "sandwich" where the dough is more like a rich biscuit, and it is stuffed with soft cheese or maybe meat. You can find it all over the place in Urbino, and it is tasty.

It it is not too far to drive to San Leo, there are several nice, not terribly touristy eateries there plus a big honking castle.
