Help! (Tomorrow) Outdoor Overlooking Water
Mom's still in town - and you guys were so stellar on coming to my rescue with your Lin's and Peaceful ordering suggestions - that I am asking for your help again!
We want to host a small dinner outdoors (if the weather permits) on a patio or outdoor setting. It can be anywhere in the lower mainland or in Vancouver. We would like to be looking out over water as we are in need of some relaxation.
We have been stuffing ourselves on all types of Asian cuisine including Sushi, Greek food and Indian and Fish & Chips so would like restaurant suggestions that do not include those genres (this time only :) thank you.
Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Another option near Cardero's:
The Mill Marine Bistro & Bar:

And over on north side of False Creek there's Provence Marinaside:

el_lobo_solo is correct about views and food not going hand in hand here. However, Cardero's would fit your price range and it has a beautiful patio on the water. Food is about par with the chains like Milestones, Earls, Cactus Club, etc. but the patio is a beautiful setting in summer.

Can't offer any specific restos (as well good food + view is a tough combo for some reason) but be aware that the fireworks crowd will take over many patios around English Bay and Kits tomorrow evening.

re: el_lobo_solo
The stressful circumstances of this visit completely swiped the fireworks from my mind. Thanks el_lobo_solo!
I actually think we will make this a late lunch function instead then as everyone is off of work anyway.Does anyone have suggestions for a lunch meeting the same criteria?
If people want to suggest fabulous patios without water views we'll keep an open mind ;)

Ooops, sorry I also forgot to add that I was hoping the price range of each plate or dish would fall within approximately $15-30.
Thank you!

re: cloudshoveller
Please do report back if you go with a "view" room. I've eaten at most of the recs here at one time or another (some this summer) and as els says, good food + view is a tough combo. None have delivered on the food for me, though I haven't been to Mills yet. And we had horrendous service in May at Seasons, so bad they gave us a coupon to try to bring us back.

I was a "tourist" visiting friends and family in and around Vancouver a few weeks ago.
"Water" and "view" were two of the things I wanted as well.
One beautiful evening we had an early but then a lingering dinner at the Boathouse in Kitsilano. Great view, wonderful people watching....mediocre food at higher than mediocre prices although a number of problems in service resulted in a discounted bill to my buddy who was good enough to pick up what would have regardless been a sizable total tab given the number of bottles of wine that were consumed.
Another afternoon we had lunch out at the Quay in New West and had a moderately better lunch at the Boathouse there. Seems water and view ...and unfortunately mediocre food = Boathouse.
At least we enjoyed watching the Fraser rush by.
Is Seasons on Burnaby Mountain? We did drive up that way one afternoon but a total absence of shade meant we could not take a chance of leaving our dogs in the van so gave it a pass although the views were stunning especially across toward Deep Cove.
Will be back out in October either before or after our annual trip to Tofino.
No we won't be trying the Boathouse at Horseshoe Bay.....[grin]
