Fishkill/Pouhkeepisie Recs

I will be spending the weekend in the area, are there any "don't miss" spots?
Thanks in advance

Hi, I guess I am the only one that thinks Aroma is not that great - I have never been impressed while so many people rave about it - all my dinners have just been "ok."
Cibo and The Tomato Cafe get my votes for great lunch - www.eatcibo.com

In Poughkeepsie, I also highly recommend Artist's Palate and have been hearing great things about Brasserie 292.

If you are looking to eat outside by the water, I also recommend Shadows, River Station or Andy's Place - while certainly not gourmet by any stretch, you will get a pretty tasty casual meal with a nice view.......

Let us know where you pick!

For a great setting on a deck right on the Hudson, go to Shadows on the Hudson in Poughkeepsie. The food is good but the setting is everything. Reasonably priced menu, with something for everyone. Particularly with the low humidity forecast for the weekend!

Don't miss spots in general would depend on the type of cuisine you're looking for, but if you're open to anything, I second the Aroma Osteria and Il Barriloto recs for a nice dinner. Beacon, just south of Fishkill, has a couple of great spots - Poppy's for amazingly delicious burgers made with locally grass fed beef and Zora Dora Paleteria for homemade ice pops that have unique and yummy flavors - they are pretty much right across the street from each other. Max's on Main in Beacon has bar food with a bit of a twist, one of the better casual places in the area. I like the Tomato Cafe in Fishkill, their pizza is fresh and very good. Cafe Maya in Wappingers Falls/Fishkill (2 locations) or Mole Mole in Poughkeepsie both have great Mexican - authentic, not the TexMex kind.

Pamela's Java Hut is a nice place for brunch. You might also want to grab a quick bite at Palace Dumpling (hole in the wall dumpling place) or a sit down meal at Formosa Cuisine. I think Aroma Osteria is wonderful. Their roasted chicken special is the best chicken dish that I've had in this area. Crave and The Artist's Palate are also very good. Lola's Cafe (run by the owners of Crave) is a great place to pick up lunch if you're around the Walkway in Poughkeepsie.
