Starving for good Chinese. Willing to take a road trip. I live on the outskirts of Augusta and would travel north to Bangor or to Portland for decent Chinese. Any suggestions?

I've heard that Lucky Garden in Hallowell is terrific. Last year we had very good luck at a little place in Winslow just off route 201, behind McDonalds. Turn right onto route 137, then right at the light across from Rite Aid. It was next to Subway.
I've heard that the terrific Chinese restaurant in Freeport has gone downhill. Heard a couple of good comments though about "China Taste" in Yarmouth.

I might suggest making a day out of it, heading to Chinatown in Boston.

I was thinking the same thing. Of all the food things we do well in Maine, Chinese, for some reason, ain't really one of them.

Agreed. Go to Boston or stay home. No Chinese in the state worth a road trip.

It is Boston hands down. The rest are wannabee's.

Chopsticks and Panda Garden are both very good, though it's definitely still American-style. They are not greasy at all and use good ingredients, and you can get some more "authentic" stuff. But yeah, it's still American.
