BBQ or Southern Cuisine close to donwtown Hyatt Regency
Greetings,
I will be staying at the Hyatt Regency at 265 Peachtree Street Northest. I would love to hear any recommendations for good BBQ or southern cuisine places within walking distance or a short cab ride. Casual preferred but price not all that important.
Thanks!

re: Enfielder
We ate at Mary Mac's last weekend and it was amazing. Seriously delicious friend chicken, really great shrimp and grips, very tasty pot licker (liker?? sp). One of the diners I was with had roasted pork which was awesome. Omg cinnamon rolls in the bread basket! We got dessert to go and the peanut butter pie was crazy good, the banana pudding was also very good but not the best I ever had.

Harold's BBQ is south of the Stadium off University. Very good Q and has been around for years.
Carvers, Silver Skillet and Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles are all very good southern grub. The first 2 are meat and two/three style while the 3rd is a fried chicken spot.
If you don't mind driving a bit further, Fox Brothers is fantastic Q.

If you want a southern breakfast get a ride to Silver Skillet on 14th St. and try the country ham and red eye gravy - you don't find that anywhere else in Atlanta that I know of. I get it with eggs, grits w/ butter and biscuits and spoon the gravy on the biscuits. You can get the ham and red eye gravy for lunch also - closes at 2PM, 2:30 PM Weekends
