San Francisco, Big Sur, Mariposa

Hi there! My boyfriend and I are heading to California for a trip in early September. We will be doing quite a bit of traveling around - spending a couple days in SF, a couple at Ripplewood Resort in Big Sur, a few in Yosemite Valley where we will be staying in Mariposa, and one night in Napa before we leave.

Being from CT and totally unfamiliar, any suggestions for dining options in these areas? Or any other non-food related hidden gems to visit along the way?

You'll need to post on the SF board for tips on the City and for Napa. Search this board for Big Sur, several recent threads have been posted.

Reading other posts this morning and saw a nice mention of Sal's Tacos / Salvadore's in Mariposa.
Also if you like taco trucks, Ramon's in Planada ( just outside of Merced ) is quite tasty.
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/795325 Merced is on the way to Mariposa. But from what I read/hear - Savoury's is the best place for dinner in Mariposa. http://www.yelp.com/biz/savourys-rest...
The Butterfly Cafe in the center of Mariposa was good for breakfast - casual atmosphere with good coffee.

There is no question that Savoury's is the best place for dinner in Mariposa, and one of the best in the region. Definitely recommended.

The other must try place in Mariposa is Jantz Bakery on main street. They have coffee and baked goods and their pie is outstanding. Closed Sundays.
