Breakfast in Calgary

Any places you would recommend around downtown?

      Depending on where around DT, I would recommend either Red's Diner on 4th street (just north of 17th ave) or, a little further away, Dairy Lane Cafe on 19th Street NW in Hillhurst. Neither has done me wrong, but if I had to chose, I'd give the nod to Dairy Lane.

      Both are along the lines of casual cafes and nothing fancy. Anything you're looking for in particular?

        Thank you for your reply. I think I'll be trying out Dairy Lane Cafe. Is there anything worth trying around Sheraton Cavalier?

          The brunch at the Executive Royal Inn isn't too bad.

          If you're willing to drive 10-15 minutes there's some places on Edmonton Trail: Diner Deluxe, Over Easy and Big Fish.

            Be prepared for a wait at Dairy Lane - they only have about 8 (very) small tables.

            there are also the many Edmonton Trail options, which are only a few minutes drive north of downtown (they are certainly not any farther than Dairy Lane). Another option might be Lazy Loaf, but that's a bit farther out... not sure how far from downtown you're willing to travel.

              Sounds like the OP is staying in the NE (Sheraton Cavalier being the one on Barlow Tr and 32nd Av NE) but is willing to venture to Dairy Lane -- so Lazy Loaf wouldn't be that much of a stretch. The only option I can think of in the NE is the Sunday brunch at Coast Plaza Hotel. Nothing groundbreaking going on but it's reliable.

              I 2nd Diner Deluxe, Over Easy & Big Fish - lots of fantastic options. Over Easy's eggs benedict are my fave.
