Any love for Union Square Cafe?
I'm going to Union Square Cafe later this week. I've been a couple of times, maybe two years ago, and it made no real impression on me. Anyone love it and have recommendations for what to order? It doesn't get mentioned much here.

It's been a long time -- we don't live in NYC any more, but just yesterday I was talking about USC -- we live in New Orleans and had calamari with spicy orange and maytag blue cheese crust -- and I told my boyfriend that the only other memorable calamari I'd ever had (other than just flat out getting it right, no small feat!) was at Union Square Care with its subtle hint of cardamom.

We recently "re-discovered" USC and have had two superb meals there within the past few months. There are a lot of new seasonal dishes on the current menu which I haven't had. However, the Lamb Chops "Scotta Dita" are a signature. I love lamb, and these are terrfic, as is the Potato-Gruyère Gratin that comes with it. The Ricotta Gnocchi are also excellent. With regard to dessert, we've had the signature Banana Tart as well as the Banana Pretzel Cream Pie and enjoyed both. I'm a peach addict, so right now, I'd go for the Peach Cobbler with Sour Cream Ice Cream. Just thinking about it has me drooling.
