First time in Philadelphia - pls help

Servatkan Jul 31, 2011 08:06 AM

My first time in Philadelphia. I'll get there on Tuesday and will be there for one day only.
Does anyone know a cheap and good joint to eat great philadelphia food (don't care which cuisine - indian, pizza, burgers, etc.).

Thank you!

I'll be at the old town area (liberty bell, independence hall, etc.). Looking for lunch somewhere. Thanks.

http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/786247 is a great thread talking about some of the better restaurants in the Old City area.

Khyber Pass (gastro pub with a cajun flair and great beer selection) is highly recommended. If you like Szechuan cuisine Han Dynasty is good too. I am sure others will weigh in.

I'd flip a coin and go with either of cwdonald's recs, those are the two best places down there (that are open for lunch on Tuesday). Amada and Zento are very good too.

Agree, and I will add that for Mexican, I was at Las Bugambilias on South St recently and it was very good. You can also get pretty good gourmet pizza at Pizzeria Stella.

If you're going to be just in the Old City area, here's my recs:

Quick Slice of Pizza: Gianfranco Pizzeria Rustica
Good beer selection/excellent food: Khyber Pass Pub
      Drinks/Italian: Positano Coast
      Tapas: Amada
      Sushi: Zento
Burger/beer: Standard Tap (this will require a short cab ride)
