Listen up, it has been well over a year since I have posted on Chowhound but I have finally found good reason to write. I learned about Aldolino Italian Restaurant by going to a house party in Covina which they were catering. Within a week I drove to their restaurant located in the back corner of an old strip mall on Arrow Hwy between Azusa Ave. and Citrus Ave. What first got my attention at the house party was the Bruschetta; a slice of toasted bread piled high with fresh chopped tomatoes, olives, basil and garlic. I knew it was good by just looking at it; fresh! It is truly a flavor experience. I told the waiter how much I like it and he suggested a salad.

Venezia Insalata
Mixed greens, arugula, cherry tomatoes, oranges, red onions, dried cranberries, caramelized apples, pecans and blue cheese crumbles, tossed in a raspberry vinaigrette. Yes, there is a God and this God spoke to me. I have returned for this salad and the Bruschetta maybe five times in the last three months and each time it has been perfectly fresh. I asked about the freshness of the salad and the Bruschetta and the waiter said they never buy large amounts of food but only enough to last a day. He said, “We have fresh food delivered everyday.” Then with a smile he asked, “Do you like it?” II smiled and asked if they had a simple Spaghetti plate and what I got proved simple is best!

Spaghetti Al Pomodoro; Fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic, and olive oil. These three items, the Bruschetta, salad, and spaghetti are enough for two people to share. Any one of them is enough of a flavor experience for one person to go home pleased. In fact, the waiter said they have a steady customer who comes once a month for just the Bruschetta and wine. I understand that. Yes, when foreplay is that good, it stands on its own.. Ah but what wonderful pleasures can follow.
