Is this a Quiche?

A friend is visiting and I asked her if there was anything special she'd like me to make for her. She described an egg dish that she used to get at a restaurant that closed. Here's what she said:

It was a dense egg pie that was the height and shape of a cheesecake. It had a pastry crust on the bottom and, up the sides. The fillings varied but there was usually some form of vegetable (chard was her favourite) inside and, some cheese.

I immediately thought it was a quiche but she didn't think so. She said the egg mixture was much more dense and, had a creamier flavour and, it was about 3 inches high so much deeper than a typical quiche.

Any ideas?

The pizza rustic is amazing, delicious, and fortunately, since it is large, freezes well!

Yes, this is a quiche. There are many variations of quiche but all with the same basic principles.

It could be like Thomas Keller's quiche made in a springform pan:

Sounds like a Torta Rustica, which I always have made in a springform pan. It's quiche-like, but it's done in layers and you don't use cream.

Was it an Italian restaurant? It may be a variation of Pizza Rustica that is made with vegetables like chard. On my Pizza Rustica thread, someone mentioned Torta di Pasqua, which had chard in it.

Could it be a torta? I know one that has chard in it...here's a recipe that's close to mine but adds some extra vegs: http://dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.co...
