Why is this restaurant not linking?

Tina's Place

I wrote about it a few days ago

When I did a reply a day later, there was no link. I was thinking it might be one of those disapperaing and reappearing links. But the reply didn't pick up the name either.

Today in another topic, no link ... btyw, this workd find for this post as I didn't want a link and was going to remove it. It never appeared though.

I went into the restaurant record to see if there was anything odd there ... maybe an extra space at the end. Nope. Nothing I could see.

The only other thing is it has move a few times, this time to a different city. However, I thought the key was the name.

It is also not on the edge of a region. Pinole is about mid-point between Berkeley and Napa, so it shouldn't be that.

In the first case, you did not use the complete name in the body of the post. Linking doesn't pick up titles or all caps.

Thanks. Will keep that in mind

There's no zip code on the record. If you can add that, it should be able to find it.

            Jacquilynne - HELP!

I've created some restaurants addresses which now exist in my profile, e.g. Seng Thor

            http://www.chow.com/profile/143097/restaurant_lists?userID=143097&ownerName=self&action=been_there&page=2

But I can't link it to my thread here:

            http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/796034

I also can't create the address (again) as the system will prompt to tell me that the address already exists!

Do you think it's an inherent bug on the China & Southeast Asia board? I don't have any problems on the SF Bay Area, UK/Ireland or Europe boards with regards to restaurant address links.

I wonder whether it's somehow a repeat of the "missing-restaurant problem" reported as fixed by Engineering in this topic: www.chow.com/topics/810948

It appears to be the same thing - a restaurant that exists in the restaurant database (you can see its listing at www.chow.com/restaurants/924512/seng-... ) but which won't show up in available choices to create links when posting in the discussion forums.

Currently, in my case at least, the problem seemed to be confined to the China & SE Asia board - maybe they haven't enabled the restaurant linking functionality for this board yet? But the linking seemed to work intermittently, as I'd added addresses of some HK, Singapore, KL and Penang restaurants previously.

If this is the same problem, it'll present with a large number of other side effects. I'll keep an eye out.
