Chinese takeout near Bellevue Hospital?

I"m coming into the city on Sunday and looking for a Chinese takeout place near Bellevue Hospital. Near 28th St and 1st Ave on the East Side. Any suggestions? Or suggestions for any takeout near that area? Thanks

I haven't been in years, but I used to love the seafood noodle soup at Mee Noodle Shop. It's on 2nd between 29th & 30th, and serves all the basics. But I'd stick to the noodle & dumpling dishes.

I went there within the past couple of years, and it really sucked. Yes, it used to be dependably passable, if never remotely great, in my opinion.

That saddens me. Has Noodles on 28th also gone down the tubes? And Jimmy's House? I used to live & work in that neighborhood, and I ordered frequently from those as well. Perhaps all the decent cheap Chinese has vanished, along with my youth.

Great Szechuan is on 3rd, b/t 26th & 27th. We haven't tried it, but I've read reports that the food is quite decent.

If you like Turkish food, Turkish Kitchen is a favorite of ours. It's on 3rd, b/t 27th & 28th.

Lamazou, on 3rd, near 27th, makes superb sandwiches.

Thanks for all the great suggestions RGR. Looks like either Great Szechuan or the Turkish Kitchen. Looking forward to it

Chose Great Szechuan. Cold noodles for appy and shredded beef with green peppers off the Szechuan side of the menu. Delicious, considering what is available in my sleepy town north of NYC, but guess I would have preferred a little more heat. Next time I'm going to try the Afghan place acrosss the street too. Thanks again for the help

Thanks for reporting back. Glad that Great Szechuan was a good choice.

The food at Bamiyan, the Afghani restaurant, is pretty good.
