Vegetarian Restaurants?
My sister is visiting from out of town. She is vegetarian (but not vegan). She does not eat seafood.
Can anyone recommend a good place for a vegetarian meal in San Francisc? We will not be going West of Twin Peaks, so this would be limited to the downtown area, Russian Hill, North Beach, Union Square, and thereabouts. I want to stay out of the Tenderloin and Civic Center areas. She eats a lot of Chinese food at home, so I would prefer other cuisines here.
It's OK if the restaurant has meat dishes, as long as it also has good vegetarian options.
I am already considering return trips to Greens (which she has been to several times), Millennium, and Fleur de Lys and I am aware of Source, Herbivore, and Cafe Gratitude. I just want to make sure I'm not missing any other good veggie option.

In addition to a recent outstanding vegan tasting menu experience at Atelier Crenn, my daughter and I enjoyed the 5-course tasting menu at Millennium. (It was actually 6 courses, as our waiter brought us one of the evening's specials to share -- a most delicious mushroom pot pie.)
Started with a sea veggie salad with avocado/umeboshi vinaigrette, cucumber, carrots and wasabi cashews. Lots of different flavors/textures going on here.
Complimentary whole wheat bread with a tasty dal spread.
Fried Green tomato with lovage cream and guacamole -- this was really, really good.
A tamales from the menu, neglected to write down the details, but it was excellent.
Smoked tempeh from the menu -- chewy, crusty outside, glazed with a very good barbecue sauce. Best tempeh I've ever had, but I'm still not a fan.
Finished with a decadent ganache cake and coconut creme brulee.
Very nice meal in a warm setting. I would certainly recommend this place.

Barbacco has some great vegetarian dishes. If you're up for leaving SF, Encuentro in Oakland.
