New FiDi lunchtime food truck site: Mission and First (alley between Fremont and First)

Not on a normal schedule, I walked down Mission today and stumbled across the new "Truck Stop Mission and 1st food alley."

They've managed to pull three trucks into this tiny alley that connects Mission with the courtyard of 50 Fremont. The trucks will be there Monday-Friday, 11-2, with different trucks on different days (website and schedule here: http://www.truckstopsf.com/calendar/2... ). The guy at the Pacific Puffs (cream puffs) truck said there would be two meal trucks and one dessert truck there every day.

I already had plans for lunch but I bought a cream puff which was pretty good: the pastry was tender but not soggy, even though it had been refrigerated (I let it warm up for a few minutes), but I thought the chocolate on top and the filling were a little too sweet (I would have liked a more sophisticated chocolate flavor).

found it. had Curbside's kimchi dog with sesame aioli and fries. sesame aioli was pretty superfluous other than a textural/moisture thing, since all you could taste was kimchi. Kimchi was pretty good, grilled with some bits charred. fries were hand cut, peel on, very tasty. probably wouldn't get the dog again - just too much - hot do itself is a fatty. it was perfect for a wine-logged belly day, but definitely not an everyday splurge.

Interestingly, that's what I found with Brunch Box's PBLT (Pork Belly Lettuce & Tomato) when I went this Monday. They had a yuzu aioli on their sandwich, but it didn't seem to add much as the pork belly (which was nicely tender and tasty) overwhelmed it. The butterleaf lettuce and tomato didn't add too much either - in fact, I found myself adding the tang of the small side salad into my sandwich for contrast.

They seemed to be missing a truck on Monday as well - the rib truck didn't show up, or at least wasn't there when they started getting going.

Thanks for the heads up, combined with the Monday Farmers Market, this little courtyard at 50 Fremont is now an incredibly convenient chow destination.
