Without a doubt the best in central NJ (and all of NJ for that matter) is Local Smoke in Neptune City.

Of course depending on where in Central NJ you are, another excellent option is Local Smoke in Cookstown...

I concur regarding Local Smoke, but check out the thread for advice for finding it - GSP systems seem to have a problem.

also check out Pom Pom on route 33 east of Hightstown. there's also a thread about it.

BTW, just wondering - how come there's no consensus about where "central jersey" is? Craigs list thinks it's north of the Raritan. Since route 195 splits the state in half right at the middle, so central jersey should be the area surrounding it.... just my 2 cents...

nick28 - A consensus on the definition of "central" jersey? It's hard enough getting people to agree on what is "good" food! :)

I generally consider CNJ to be between Rt 78 and Rt 195.

Had the planners built 195 a bit farther south and route 78 a bit farther south, there'd be far less disagreement on this subject.
