I've always enjoyed the burgers at Tops Diner in East Newark. Now I know why. I stopped by today and had a delicious cheese burger with lettuce , tomatoe, raw onion and pickles. It came with a big order of fries. All for $8.50. I ordered it cooked medium and it was perfectly cooked. Why go to Smashburger, 5 Guys or Bobby Flay. This burger is the best.

I have never been to Tops diner, but last night I was at Krug's Tavern for a Bacon Cheeseburger cooked a perfectly requested Medium for $7.50. It's advertised as a 3/4 pound pre-weight patty. which I have found is pretty accurate. Four slices of bacon and two slices of cheese. I think it's a pretty good deal.......The 2-Combo Fried Shrimp and Calamari with Spicy Marinara was also a winner.

Three Burgers, two French Fries, Fried Seafood, Pitcher of Beer and a can of coke....$58, pre-tip.......We also received two large sour/dill pickles and a loaf of bread with butter.

I didn't see Krug's mentioned in the article.

Krug's is supplied by a butcher called Ray's on Astor Place in Newark. I haven't been to Tops, but Krug's is the best burger I've eaten.

No, not yet, but I hear that the burgers are excellent. I'll have to get there soon.
