newbie question: pelee island gamay noir zweigelt

dumpycactus Jul 29, 2011 10:27 AM

if someone likes pelee island gamay noir zweigelt,
what else would you recommend?

it's a gift, so instead of a 11$CDN bottle, i'd like to find something maybe in the 20-30$ range?

the recipient isn't a wine expert by any means.
thanks for any help!

Village-level Beaujolais would probably work. Beaujolais is a region in France, and the red wines are produced from the gamay grape. It's infamous for Beaujolais Nouveau (the wine released around American Thanksgiving), but the village level (and Cru-level) wines are very good, although most folks haven't heard of them.
