Rustic Inn Crab House

We have been deceived by seafood restaurants so many times it's like a treasure hunt. On our last night in Miami, my family took us to Rustic Inn. If you're a shellfish foodie, this is your heaven. We started with raw oysters, clams and just for kicks, deep fried frog legs and gator tails. The oysters were firm, sweet and salty, like how fresh raw oysters should be. The steamed clams were simple, not hidden in sauce to mask anything. We had double shots of the crab sampler...it was crustacean heaven. Between fresh good food and a great server named Bryan who did everything to satisfy a very needy table of five, we had a blast. This place is a definite must go to. Again and again and again. See you next summer Bryan.

      love it 2 caveats

      1. Don't let out of towners order the lobster... no utensils just mallets to get the meat out!

      2. Stay away from the Florida Golden crabs.. since the Japanese nuclear disaster they have been buying them all up and you need to leave some for me!

I went to the Rustic Inn last night...ordered the conch fritters and fried alligator for appitizers. I also ordered the Conch chowder soup...all which very good. My sister and I shared the crab sampler..the garlic crabs were not good at all, they tasted HORRIBLE. But the GOLDen crabs and the alaskan queen crabs were sooooo good.

i always get the alaskan queen crab myself; never try anything else because I'm happy with that dish and don't want to take the chance- i should try the garlic crabs someday though- i believe it's their specialty

How much are they getting for a dozen oysters? I haven't been there since the late 80's.

Yeah I agree, I am also a huge fan of rustic inn, even converted my snobby chef husband.
I take all out of towners here for at least one meal. And every time they have asked to go back upon return. It’s a great time.

                sounds great...where is it?
We discovered 'Southport Raw Bar" 2 years ago and it was terrific...fresh and very good food..... very casual and laid back atmosphere..always looking to try seafood restaurants that won't break the bank (Joe's) or have 'attitude'...doesn't have to be 'cheap' but it does have to be reliably fresh...also good Japanese (sashimi for me) (no fish for hubby..gyoza or chicken terriyaki, vegetable tempura). Aventura/Sunny Isles area if possible but we do have a car....

It's in Anglers Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for sharing your find. We'll have to try that on our next visit.
