The Dutch or Buvette?

Has anyone been to both and preferred one to the other? I know they're different restaurants in terms of cuisine, atmosphere, small plates etc. Just curious which might yield the overall better meal. The Buvette menu seems more interesting to me and I wasn't crazy about Locanda Verde, but the Dutch has its appeal too. My husband and I will be going for an early dinner post-theatre this Saturday so getting in shouldn't be too much of a problem (we already have a 5:30 ressie at the Dutch). Thanks!

    1. We have been to both.

We went to The Dutch specifically because I wanted to try the fried chicken. It's not on the dinner menu, and late night doesn't work for us, so we went for lunch. It was fabulous, as were the fries and the biscuits that came with it. The cherry pie we shared was terrific as well.

Those who have been there when it's very busy have said the noise level is insanely high. Fortunately, it was not busy when we were there, and at 5:30 on a Saturday, I don't think it will be either. There three rooms: the bar room (there are tables there), the front room where the oyster bar is located (which is where we sat), and the back room, which was not open when we were there, and is said to be most comfortable and quietest.

We went to Buvette for a late lunch. We shared several small plates. They were all delicious. There are a few large plates on the dinner menu. I found the ambiance charming though tables are very small and extremely close to one another. It wasn't a problem for us since we were the only ones there. Our daughter and son-in-law went there for dinner a couple of Saturdays ago. They, too, loved the food. When they arrived at 5:30, it was empty but full by the time they left.

      1. They are both very good, you can't go wrong. Come back another time and try the other one.
