Devon Fish & Pizza Closed

Another Chicago restaurant bites the dust. Devon Fish and Pizza (& Sushie) closed this week. Anyone ever go there?

I wish I could say that I am surprised, but really that would not be true. Other then the Jalapeno Poppers I cannot say that I enjoyed anything at the restaurant. Their sushi was quite mediocre compared to Chef Eric's creations when Harbor Grill was at that location. It's too bad though that no restaurants other then Great Chicago and Tel Aviv pizza are surviving in that vicinity.

Emphasis on "surviving." I can't recall the last time I stepped into either of those and I live fairly close by. I'll go to Srulie's, Tein Li or Manghal in a heartbeat over any of the remaining offerings on Devon.

I went there when I was on vacation in Chicago a couple weeks ago. It was not in a good location- esp since it was right next door Tel Aviv, and the food was so-so. The place was friendly and the waitress was really nice though.
I would guess that the opening of EJ's didnt do it many favours, because whenever we drove past EJ's it was packed; driving past Devon and it was empty.

Right next door to Tel Aviv? It was about half a mile away.

As far as I recall, it was right next to Tel Aviv; could definitely be wrong about that though.

I think maybe a door or two down but I would still call it next door

i think maybe they had one glass window in between them. Thank you for verifying that I am not actually going crazy (yet..)

The confusion here is that it was near the Tel Aviv Bakery but a half mile from Tel Aviv Pizza. 2 "Tel Avivs."

Ha, not sure how I missed that one. I assumed the reference was to Tel Aviv Pizza because it didn't occur to me that proximity to the bakery would make it "not in a good location".

Anyways, their sushi was good, and their jalapeno poppers (actual whole jalapenos stuffed with cheese and batter-fried) were great. I wasn't that into their other food.

I didn't understand the bakery reference either, seems like anything that draws traffic to the area would be good for business.

apologies. I did not realise there was a bakery AND a pizza place. I was referring to the pizza place; i did not realise the pizza place was 1/2 mile away.
