Does anyone have any great slow cooker recipes that take about 10 hours? From the time I leave for work and (finally) make it back home at the end of the day it's been about that long. I don't like the idea of having my dinner done by noon and just sit there on the counter waiting on me for hours.....Any suggestions?

Buy an appliance timer, plug the slow cooker in, set the timer to whenever you want to start cooking, and make sure the cooker's on. I've been doing this for ages.

Second the timer suggestion. It works like a charm. Another thought is extend cooking time by using frozen meat rather than thawed if recipe is amenable.

This is why I made sure to have a timer w/ a warm function on my crockpot. It turns down to warm and we have hot but not overcooked dinners. Soups do well, high fat meat w/ connective tissues do okay, chili is great. But, if your crockpot runs high, most dishes will burn/lose quality over 10 hours.
