Recomendation for a Central London Restaurant like Dean Street Town House
It is my girlfriend's last day at work in a couple of fridays before she is on Maternity leave (our first bairn is due in the middle of September)
I would like a recommendation for a really nice, but relaxed restaurant that we can have our last blow out meal at before restaurants become a distant memory. We both like the Dean Street Town House, with its bar, bustle and good food - but want to try somewhere different.
I like Hix's places in Farringdon and Soho, and want to try Bar Bolud and English Pig, but these places maybe a bit to masculine (if you know what i mean)
Food should be british, modern british, french, spanish - but not too fussy as she has an appitie (eating for 2!).
Oh, and it will be too late for the obvious choices of Dinner and Ivy etc...
You help is appriciated.
I'll second Les Deux Salons. We had a really good meal there (not the prix fixe menu), and the room is comfortable. I had a fantastic dessert of Paris Brest. This has nothing at all to do with your impending change of familial situation and is not meant as a bad pun. :-)
If Bistrot Bruno Loubet at St John's Square within your geographical parameters, I'd pick them for clever subtle cooking with fine technique and flavours. Also had excellent food recently under the new chef at Coach and Horses in Farringdon (will post details soon).
St Johns Restaurant
24 Sir Thomas Street, Liverpool L1 6JB, GB
It does indeed, and is close to a few pubs (one being right across the road -- The Chandos which I really like)!
I definitely think you should go to LDS -- its really great. The sweetbread starter is my favorite starter in the city, and their steak frite is excellent to the maximumz!
