Has anyone had the Petsi Pie cherry crumb pie?
The guy on the phone said they were made with sour cherries but he did not give me confidence because he said they were "always" made with sour cherries. And that sour cherry thread has me wishing for a sour cherry pie but I am not a pie-making person.

We get our sour cherries from a farmer in Traverse City Michigan, if we don't have those cherries, we don't have cherry pies that day/week/month. The cherries arrive fresh 2 or 3 months of the year and the rest of the time he sends them frozen, but I am committed to only making cherry pies with this particular sour cherry or not at all.

I haven't had the Petsi's cherry pie, but it's entirely possible that it's always made with sour cherries - just not FRESH sour cherries, which have a very short season, as per that other thread.
On the other hand, canned or frozen sour cherries are available year-round. I grew up with a family recipe entitled "Franklin Park cherry pie" because my mom worked as an animal dietary aide at the children's zoo there when I was in grade school, and they went through many industrial-sized cans of sour cherries, some of which got diverted from animal diets to pies for the staffers.
