Any "must eats" in the Destin / 30A area?

RedBeans04 Jul 26, 2011 09:16 AM

We are heading to Destin tomorrow for a few days and I wondered if there were any "must eats" in the area? We generally hit Vintij while we are in town.

How about any ethnic type food? Any Vietnamese?

My current favorite is Marie's Bistro on 30A in Blue Mountain Beach. Fabulous, fresh food with an Asian flare and wonderful sushi. We also had a delicious dinner at Smiling Fish Cafe during our last Destin visit.

For made-from-scratch ice cream and burgers - House of Klaus; he's expanded the menu (which we didn't know or save room for when we were there) and everything looked good.

The only Vietnamese place in town is the generally well-regarded Sai-Kyo in the strip mall just west of Destin Walmart. Thai is a lot more common and I'd recommend Jasmine Thai between Publix and Destin Commons. (or alternately Sawadee in the strip mall across from K-Mart if you find yourself passing through Niceville at meal time) If you're interested in Filipino, I've heard a few good reviews of Sue's Desserts & More in downtown Ft. Walton Beach, and there are also a few Korean places i the FWB area as well.
