Desperately seeking candy bar....

I used to eat a chocolate bar in the mid eighties that had a rice crisp texture, with peanut butter and was chocolate covered. I think it came in a purple wrapper but that is all I remember.....anyone have any ideas, I have searched high and low and racked my brain!

  1. Galco's has all the old fashion soda pop and I think some old time candies as well - check them out to see if they can help: http://www.galcos.com/ (Warning - sound - musical pop bubbles)

Brown and Haley Mountain Bar? -- I think I remember those myself - at least this is peanut butter and chocolate and a start: http://www.sodapopstop.com/products/d...

I tried that one too....I thought maybe that was it but they changed it over time?

They did, actually: Whatchamacallits now have caramel in them, which they didn't in the 80s and early 90s. However, they never came in a purple wrapper, it's always been beige.

        2. Not a purple wrapper, but 5th Avenue otherwise fits the description. They're still around though. Used to be Luden's; now Hershey's. I remember when they had a couple of nuts on top.

It really resembled a nestle chokito bar....but the filling is wrong.

          2. Was it the 100 Grand bar? That has a red wrapper though... I feel like I know EXACTLY which candy bar you are talking about, but I'm just struggling with the name. My first thought too was the Whatchamacalit, but it doesn't sound like that's it. Trust me, as a child of the 80s, I ate more than my fair share of candy bars - it will come to me eventually :)

A few more questions...was it standard candy bar shape (like your run of the mill Snickers or 3 Musketeers) or was it round/oblong/twisty/etc? Any other distinguishing characteristics? Was it a mass-market candy bar or could it have been regional?

It was like a bar but with a lumpy crisped rice exterior.....looked just like the nestle chokito bar but it had a peanut buttery filling. I grew up in southern california which is where I remember eating it but I have not seen this since I was a kid! I am beginning to wonder if this is a figment of my imagination but my sister remembers the same one.....

Oh, wait...do you mean the PB Max? I'm almost positive this is what you're thinking of:

I think you may be my hero....this looks right, I think my memory must b a little off but watching the commecial I think that's it! Thank you!

              1. Sorry for what may be a stupid question, or a question with an obvious answer (or both), but roughly what area (city/state/province/country) were you in when you were enjoying the candy? It might help to narrow the chocolate bar's name down. Thanks.

OP covered that two posts upthread:
