re: Vinnie Vidimangi
Decided to try it at least once so I ended up going anyways with no reservations. Got seated in 10 minutes but it was packed at 6:30....90% of the people went for drinks, not food. Granted I was only there for 2 hours, I barely saw anyone order food. My meal was alright, but I probably wouldn't go back there for food. There was nothing special about my "bouillabaise" and I could certainly spend $35 elsewhere for better seafood. Oh well, I wasn't paying this time . Beer was great though! Had a couple samples of Pilsner, Hoegaarden, and some other stuff.
Today, I went to Beer Bistro for lunch (my bday hehe) and it was amazing! It looked like 80% of their menu was made with beer! I had the pulled pork sandwich (made with beer), Young's Double Chocolate Stout (think Guiness with chocolate), and Rocky Road with Mill Street Coffee Porter!!! Much better than Bier Markt!

Yeah I did, I wrote this above:

I need to go back to try the pizza and a basket of fries.

re: mtx
Actually, I think 100% of their menu is beer. Unless you're counting the teas and coffees!
Glad that you enjoyed Beer Bistro. I really like their fries - both for taste and consistency. 20% of the time, they're awesome. 70% of the time, they're good. 10% they're edible. The tartare is a staple of mine too, as is the hogtown pizza.

re: CocoaChanel
Now, if you had to, I think you could get by if you ordered very carefully. I'd stick with the really simple things. But generally, you'll be happier if you plan to eat before/after visiting Volo. This was mostly due to the Spaghetti Carbonara I once ordered at Volo that was closer to scrambled eggs on pasta. They should really take that off the menu.

re: jlunar
Agreed. Loved the beer selection at Volo, but didn't love the food. Beer bistro definitely has the best food out of the 3 - definitely get the duck fat fries. Amazing!
Biermarkt's food isn't too bad, depending on what you order. I actually kind of enjoyed their flatbreads and their schnitzel.

re: jlunar
The food at Volo isn't great, though I suppose you could do worse. I don't think the food is a great compliment to the beers (the real reason to hit Volo).
Somewhere like Pony Bar in NYC does a pretty good job of having some sandwichey menu items that are tasty enough if you need to eat, along with some salty bar-snack type food (not to mention an incredible selection of beer).
I had moules-frites at Bier Markt before and they weren't bad; tasty enough broth, mussels properly cooked. The fries weren't great though. All the other food I've tried there has been pretty mediocre.
As others above have remarked, Beer Bistro is a much better place to eat.

re: mtx
Just remember who runs the BierMarkt -- same people as East Side Mario's and Casey's. Which should give you an idea what the food will be like.

re: TexSquared
Ah, that explains a lot. BierMarkt is frankly a place where people from the suburbs go when they come downtown. I've had nothing but terrible experiences when dragged there, with bad service. And they're always out of most of the interesting beers. For beer-related festiveness I'd take Beer Bistro or nearby C'est What any day. I also like Bar Volo on Yonge for a huge beer selection, but their food is quite pedestrian.

re: mtx
I think Beer Bistro for lunch one day and dinner another day would be fine. The menu is large enough to have totally different meals. Pulled pork sandwich for lunch. Cheese fondue (thin, but tasty) and mussels for dinner. And beer, of course. :)

re: mtx
With all those great restaurants in the area why would you need to go to Beer Bistro twice?
I agree with others that you should for sure skip the Bier Market. I like Beer Bistro but don't think it warrants 2 visits in a row.Do you have some criteria that the restaurant needs to have the word beer in it?
