A hidden jewel in a little town on Montery Peninsula

  • 4

If you find yourself here for a visit to the Monterey area consider this deli for great atmosphere, wonderful food both with authentic touches. Marina is tucked in between Monterey/Seaside and the coastal side of Salinas. Check out the great soups, sandwiches hot and cold with many bread choices. Their basil tortellini salad is awesome. Also great desserts such as chocolate espresso cheesecake mouse. Don't leave without stopping by. Closed Sundays .www.wildthymedeli.com

My favs in Marina are Tico's, a little breakfast lunch place with great homefries and wonderful wknd brunch menu.

I also like Shinla (or Shinra), a small Korean restaurant hidden on Carmel St. in Marina.

More good places to eat in Seaside, Monterey itself, Pacific Beach, and Carmel. Search the board for these.

    2. I have passed by many times on my way home, always wondering about what looks like a locals' spot. It is usually closed by the time I go by; thanks for the tip to time it so I can try it out.

      1. Thanks for the tip. I'll add this (along with Tico's) to the list of brunch/lunch possibilities for my drive down to Big Sur:
