Need good rec near MIA, yummy and relatively fast!
Basilico is on NW 36thStreet and that borders the northernside of MIA......Owned and operated by Argentinian Italians, this restaurant is outstanding be it for lunch or dinner......Packed out everyday....and they've just opened a second location.......
If you haven't been to Miami....you could take a quick cab ride to Versailles.....on Calle Ocho.....NOT the Versailles that's in the airport....but the actual mothership in Little Havana....it's just minutes away.....Their Cuban food is very good.....the atmosphere is usually busy....and it gives you the latin flavor of Miami......Some Ropa Vieja....Masas de Puerco.....black beans and rice.....not bad...

Here's another Miami airport thread ->
Longer layover in that post, though. 3 hours is tight but you're about a 15-20 minute taxi ride to 8th Street, Coral Gables or Design District/Midtown (depending on what time that layover is, rush hour will be worse).
I do know that Basilico is 5 minutes or less from the MIA terminal. To zip over to Versailles, a quick trip down LeYune to NW 7th Street (west) and a quick left down to Call Ocho shouldn't take more than 15 minutes and 15 minutes back and that gives you a good solid 90 minutes to eat. Traffic is always an issue but 3 hours to get to Versailles and back is do-able. Of course you do have to factor in the security line when you get back to MIA. I think you can do it in 3 hours but you might want to take the flan to go!
