dinner in/around maalaea (maui)

hi hounds,

hubby and i are going to the maui ocean center in august to catch the guided moonlight tidepool exploration. the session starts at 7 pm on saturday, august 27.

can you please help me find a decent restaurant where we could stop for an early dinner? we are staying in a condo near honokowai and will be driving down to maalaea. we're not averse to stopping in lahaina for dinner but i figure since we're heading out to maalaea, we could just do something there. since we'll likely be in casual clothes for the exploration, a casual recommendation would be great!

fwiw - the maalaea waterfront restaurant is closed till mid-september.

Dinner at the Waterfront would be a good choice. Very nice seafood.

um, tks for the reply but as i stated in the original post, the waterfront restaurant is closed till september 15th. the website sayst they're doing some remodeling. :(

I like Buzz's Wharf for the Tahitian prawns, prawn bisque and clam chowder.
