Montreal to Toronto--Where to stop?

We're doing a roadtrip from the Eastern Townships, to Montreal, to Toronto and then to Niagara on the Lake. All the segments of the trip are short haul, and we know where to go once we get to each stop. But the area between Montreal and Toronto is new territory for me. Are there any interesting chowish places to stop? Or interesting towns? Or should be just drive on through and eat when we get to Toronto?

  1. Kingston is a good place to try Cambodian food.

    1. As previously mentioned Kingston has surprisingly good Cambodian food that I have yet to find a match for in Toronto. Look at Pat's or Royal Angkor for my two favorites when I stop in Kingston.

      1. I personally like Phnom Penh on King and Princess, downtown Kingston.

Also in Kingston I love Pan Chanco Bakery & Cafe for lunch (I love their olive rosemary loaves and baguettes) as well as it's sister restaurant, Chez Piggy, for lunch or dinner where you can sit in a lovely courtyard patio. Both are located downtown as well.

        Chez Piggy Restaurant

        1. You could go to Buster Rhino's in Whitby if you like BBQ. It is just off the 401 but I guess it isn't very far from Toronto so you could always wait to eat there at that point. Just check the hours/day and make sure they are open though.
