Looking for Portuguese dining in Calgary - more than Mimo

  • 1

Just returned from two weeks in Spain and Portugal and was blown away by the local cuisine - particularly in Portugal. From top restaurants in Lisbon to hole in the wall spots in small villages it was always fresh, tasty and great value. Will be going to Mimo soon to try to recreate the experience (which is never possible no matter what the cuisine). Their menu is very focused on seafood. Many of the most memorable meals I had in Portugal were meat based (particularly pork) so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any place doing Portuguese food with a focus on hoofed critters. Obrigado.

  1. Haggis, two suggestions:

    1. Contact one of the Portuguese clubs in town fo suggestions.

    2. Try the Brazillian restos in town. Much Portuguese cuisine is influenced by Brazillian and vice versa. Some dishes, like Feijoada are staple meals in both countries. It's also easy to make at home. You'd also find meat, meat and more meat at a Brazillian resto.
