Is there Persian / Irani food in the East Valley?

I'm craving fesenjan and albalu polo. CRAVING it. I know there's Shamshiri in Glendale and Olive Branch in La Crescenta, but neither of those is really the Valley. Is there good Persian food east of the 405?

(OK, a *little* west of the 405 is OK too, but CSUN is Right Out.)

I like this little place in my neighborhood called Green Leaf. Family owned, solid food, attentive service in a sort of neighborhoody area on Magnolia between Sepulveda and Van Nuys. Get off the 405 at Burbank. It's close.

    14929 Magnolia Blvd, Sherman Oaks

      Try:

      Shamshiri
      122 West Stocker
      Glendale
      818-246-9541.

It's located just north of the 210.

ITYM just north of the 134... and it's very good and full of Persians. They make their own doogh, BTW, which is really quite good.

Also, I've been there -- I like it quite a lot... was hoping for something a bit closer to home (NoHo/VN border).

I don't think Shiraz is good. The best one on Ventura boulevard is Darband. For ethnic food from Caspian sea region try Shomal and for ethnic food from Isfahan try "It's all Good!" at Reseda boulevard on Friday noons. Green Cottage used to be good but not anymore. The management is changed and it is overpriced.

Try Shiraz. It's JUST WEST of the 405 on Ventura. The dcor is odd, but the food is yummy.

Shiraz is the way to go - great food, not too expensive and if you tip the waiter enough they will serve you hard liquor!

did you see the j gold article on persian food? Darband & Shoomal are in Tarzana by tampa and corbin respectively, on ventura blvd (so not TOO far west of the 405) and are popular although I haven't been yet.

I'm fairly confident that the Green Cottage in Woodland Hills (but just barely, right by Taft High) has good fesnejan, but i'd call to be sure. The decor is strange and a little shabby (old coffee shop locale) but i've been very impressed with the food i've had there. like most iranian/persian restaurants that i've encountered, they seem to get hopping fairly late...

hope those aren't too far west & if you check out darband or shoomal, report back!
