Anything to Eat in the Kirkland Area?
Family will be staying in Kirkland for a few days before finishing our trip downtown. Like most foodies, would like to visit someplace that is unique to the area and the Pacific Northwest. Is there anything nearby?

If you like Japanese food, Izumi in Totem Lake is good.

re: duvelusa
Izumi without a doubt is terrific. Authentic food and the very freshest of sushi from master sushi chef, Shito-san.
I've eaten at Le Grand Bistro twice now and it's quite good. Not Cafe Juanita good, but for the price it's very nice. Lynn's Bistro is Vietnam/French fusion and is very good. As tsquare says, the view isn't much, but food is realy terrific.
Like tsquare, I've also enjoyed Trellis at happy hour for impeccably fresh produce, yummy sliders and creative salads (and drinks) at good prices.

re: firecracker
Cafe Juanita is head and shoulders above anything else in Kirkland. Izumi is great. I have been to Lynn's many times and love it - great brunch with fresh made croissants. Aside from the chef being Vietnamese, I would say it is pretty straight forward French food.
I think that Cactus does some really fun and tasty stuff if only loosely Mexican/Southwest. Shamiana does a slightly upscale Indian/Pakistani menu well.

Cafe Juanita is just up the road a bit. In Kirkland proper, Trellis Restaurant at the Heathman Hotel has a long time Seattle chef who has his own garden to cook from. I've only been to brunch and it was a while ago, but it was very good. Bin on the Lake has an amazing setting. They host a lot of event like weddings, so part of the view may be obstructed by big tents (this may have been an unusual occasion.) New is Le Grand Bistro Americain. Already a new chef? Lynn's Bistro is a small place, not a grand view, but has survived on food alone. There are quite a few spots that can fill your stomach for less and aren't too bad. I had some work over there a few years back and it was easier to eat something good than I would have guessed.
