URTH CAFFE on Melrose: Why 40 minutes to get my salad?

There is something a little lovable about Urth in West Hollywood. Not sure why. The parking is miserable, there is little shade outdoors and the noise indoors is deafening. So-o-, I keep returning. The food is good; not great. The iced tea is terrible, as it has been sitting in an ice-filled pitcher and getting more diluted by the minute. Walked in the other day close to 2:00 PM and while I waited in line an employee took my order. I ordered a green salad with turkey(thinking that a cold dish would take less time). Finally, got to the register, found a table and sat down. 40 minutes later my food arrived.
This is just plain crazy. As a contrast, I had lunch at Huckleberry today. There were three of us a bit past noon. Our salads arrived within 10 minutes.
I am thinking that URTH in WeHO is way understaffed. It also makes me think that Huckleberry has figured out how to get the service just right, even when the restaurant is mobbed. I have been at Huckleberry when I have waited for 30 minutes to get to the front of the line. At no time, did my food ever take longer than 15 minutes to arrive.
Time for URTH in WEHO to hire more cooks.

Concur. Urth used to be a great place for coffee and some food items, but they succumbed to the import of Scene years ago. C'est la vie. It must work for them financially, it just doesn't work for me hospitably.

For all your stated reasons, we've given up going to the Urth, and now frequent Le Pain Quotidien which is one block away. They have great bread, pastries, sandwiches, salads and coffee...and the service is generally pretty good.
