I confess I haven't looked in-depth yet, but can anyone point me to a place to buy truffles (the edible fungus, not chocolate) in Pittsburgh? Would somewhere in the Strip District be the best bet?
I'm wondering if a vendor at the Public Market would carry them? I'm down the strip pretty often and can't say I recall any of the well known stores selling them, but I also was never actively searching for them.
One of the vendors (a mushroom vendor) at the Public Market does carry them. At least they were there a couple of weeks ago, when I was there.
Not the same, but may put you on the right track.http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/354971
If you can't find any, Costco.com sells truffle shavings.
Someone at PennMac might know: http://www.pennmac.com/
Or maybe Enrico's: http://www.enricobiscotti.com/
Try the GE Market District.
