last dinner in or near OGG (maui)
hoping you can help me out.
hubby and i are flying out of OGG on a sunday evening in august. our flight leaves at 8:30 pm so we'll need to be at the airport by 6:30 pm. the timing sort of sucks from a dinner perspective so i'm looking for some recommendations.
i see two options:
1. head to OGG for our flight super early (i.e. late afternoon) ... check in, dump our bags and then toot around kahului for a quick dinner before dropping off our rental car and heading in for our flight. what would be open on a sunday?
2. head to OGG later on and have our last dinner somewhere within the airport. i've tried to find out what restaurants are at OGG but it seems the webpage is incomplete/down/something else? http://hawaii.gov/ogg/shops-restaurants . can anyone comment on the food situation inside the airport?
anyway, would love your recommendations for either of these options ... doesn't have to be fancy or anything like that. just something tasty as our final maui dinner.
grab some takeout from Paia fishmarket - local raised burger or fish tacos and have a picnic watching windsurfers and kitesurfers up the road at Ho'okipa Beach.
then go to airport drop one off car and head home. no 'real' dining options at airport. Option 1 makes no sense to me. And option 2 makes no sense to me.
The food at OGG got a lot better recently with the addition of a small food court with a California Pizza Kitchen - yes that is how bad it was.We typically do CPK for a mainland flight. If you want something better go off-site. Paia Fishmarket is a great suggestion.
thanks for the great suggestion of paia fish market ... i'll look into it. unfortunately, bistro cassanova is closed on sunday. and maybe we'll pick up some pizza for the flight from CPK...just not sure i want to have my last dinner there.
Given the lack of convenient and desirable venues close to OGG for "something tasty as our final maui dinner" you might want to consider having a nice final Maui lunch or leisurely Sunday brunch instead, and then grabbing something at the airport to take on the flight. That would give you a lot more options for a pleasant dining experience without time pressure to drop your car and make your flight. Others may have good suggestions for a good Sunday brunch on Maui.
