Best 3 star restaurant in Paris for 40th Birthday? - visiting from Canada

I'm planning a last minute trip to Paris and the south of France for my boyfriend's 40th birthday in mid-August. Can you please recommend the best 3 star restaurant in Paris (that will be open) as we only have 1 night in Paris?

Thanks very much in advance!

If you are in Paris after the 15th, then try to go to Pierre Gagnaire.

Or go to a 2 star like "Le Cinq", even if it's not a 3* it's still something that does not exists in Canada.

The best 3 star that is open is likely to be the only the only 3 star that is open. What is your spe-fricific date? Not only are most restaurants closed between two and four weeks in August, but even those that are open still have their usual closing days -- sunday and monday for most of them.

Guy Savoy is open all summer, serves dinner tue-sat. L'Arpège also open all summer, mon-fri.

Le Bristol is the only three star open every meal of the year.

In general, for opening days and prices (and Michelin stars), the most useful site is www.viamichelin.com

We'll be in Paris on Aug 12th. Thanks for the info about closing days.

Savoy, Bristol and Arpège are your only choices. Read about them here and on the blogs to see which appeals to you the most. If you're first time fine diners, I'd say Savoy definitely.
