Ipswich Clams in South Jersey?

flowergirl Jul 21, 2011 04:14 PM

Visiting from California and staying in Ventnor (near A.C.). Is there any place that has steamers (ipswich clams)? I would also like any recs for great seafood - we can not get eastern seafood (crabs, clams, lobster) here. Thanks so much!

Ispwich clams are pretty much a New England phenomena. The clams with the big foot sticking out.

Cape May is the home of a wonderful seafood restaurant called The Lobster House.....lots of crabs, clams and lobster there. Many folks like to eat there. You will love the ambience as well. Enjoy your stay! Point Pleasant Beach also has a great place called Red's Lobster Pot....it's on the water, too. Make sure you eat on the deck.....they have great lobster rolls, plus the shellfish that you are seeking. Enjoy your stay!

You might want to try Allen's Clam Bar on Route 9 in Tuckerton, NJ. Someone else on another post mentioned them. I’d give them a call (609) 296-4106.

A little further north is Mr. Shrimp in Belmar, NJ. They advertise having them on their website http://www.mrshrimp.com

Good luck and let us know how they were if you find them.
