San Francisco Rec Please!

  • 3

I'm headed to San Francisco to celebrate my friends 40th birthday. I would love to take her somewhere fantastic for dinner. Fabulous food, great atmosphere, and some vegetarian options are the only requirements. Down south we love to go to Osteria Mozza and AOC. We are staying at the St. Regis so somewhere close by would be a plus.

Thanks for the help

    1. AOC and Osteria Mozza, maybe Barbacco or Perbacco. Same owners, overlapping food. Barbacco's less formal, more of a wine bar. Perbacco's more formal (not very), definitely a restaurant atmosphere unless you sit at the bar in front.

      1. Atelier Crenn (French chef with outrageously creative, vegetable rich menu; vegetarian options, everything on the plate is a work of art). This is where I'd want to go for my birthday.

La Folie (Traditional French but not stuff, has a vegetarian tasting menu)

        further away
Aziza (upscale modern Moroccan, great cocktails, many vegetarian options)

A cab all the way to Aziza will still be less than $20. The other two are considerably closer. You'll have more interesting options if you don't try to restrict yourself to downtown/Financial District restaurants.

        1. Second the recommendation for Perbacco. Always amazing meals and not too terribly far from your hotel (easy cab ride and a fairly easy walk if the weather's nice).
