Komi or Obelisk?

I'm coming to DC from NYC for a weekend to visit friends and managed to get reservations at both Komi and Obelisk.......on the same night. So I need to pick. Any advice? Price isn't an issue. I just want to have a really amazing meal with friends we haven't seen in a long time that will be truly memorable.

I've been to both and thoroughly enjoyed them. Having said that, to me, the choice between the two is easy: Komi. It's too bad you can't do both!

Personally I would go with Komi. My meal at Komi was one of the best meals I've had in this city (or ever). It is truly unique and is a very fun, delicious experience.

Obelisk on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. The meal was good but really the highlights were the pasta course and a couple of the appetizers in the first course. Everything else was only "just ok." We also were let down by our server who was far from engaging and didn't really describe what we were being served, especially in the beginning when they bring out a bunch of random courses. We had to practically beg her to tell us more than just "that is lamb, that is sweetbreads." Komi on the other hand had probably the best service I've ever received in DC.

A third vote for Komi. While I do like Obelisk, and years ago it was my favorite in DC, Komi now eclipses it by far.
