Acton, Sudbury, Concord Environs: Anything new and different?

deweyweber54 Jul 19, 2011 04:45 PM

Greetings All!
Wondering if you all have discovered anything some new and delightful houndish joints in the greater metrowest area?
Arlington seems to be the best choice for us (just a few minutes down the road), Belmont is also a go to.

Thoughts while trying to stay cool?

This might not be what you are looking for, but I noticed a sign today for Twin Seafood in West Acton Village on Mass. Ave. It didn't look open yet, but a google search turns up a facebook post at New Habitat Partners that says they will be serving food on their deck. Probably a place for a casual, quick bite or takeout. I would imagine it's the same folks as the Concord location.

Wow Twin Seafood in West Acton would be great! What space was it in?? Where the consignment shop was?

Not sure. I work in Acton but don't live here anymore so I'm not too familiar with the storefronts. It's on the same side of the street as the converted church building, across from the market that has "Brew" in the name. Right near the pharmacy, if it's still there.

Yea that was a 2nd hand clothes shop for a few months and they recently went out and they have been working a lot on painting the place inside and out.. Small space. I wonder if they will have cooked food or just raw. Im hoping for cooked as thats the main reason i go to the Concord location.

Well, according to the facebook post, they will have cooked food. So good to have more options in Acton, and not have to go to West Concord for the seafood. Patio seating, too.

You have to scroll down a bit to get to the Twin Seafood post.

I am confused. So, is it not where the consignment store used to be? If not, where is it? What is it near?

It will be in the large space that used to be "village Art" near the church. Also has a large outdoor deck. Village Art moved. Here are photos of the space.

the spot that I think Village Art moved to for a bit is now a yoga studio. They were working on a juice bar kind of thing slated for the spring sometime but I don't know where that is now or what else they intend to have.

The consignment shop is now a candy shop -- Mia Bella Candy Box. http://acton.patch.com/articles/west-...

Twin Seafood is now open in the old Village Art, across from the playground.

We had dinner at 80 Thoreau on Thursday - it was noisy and very warm (can't blame the restaurant for the weather!) but the food was outstanding. Some of the best Gnocchi I've had!

It is terrific. The service is outstanding and the food rivals anything I've had in Boston. But the noise! Oh, the noise, noise, noise! Go early and it won't be so annoying.

If you drink, try their gin and tonic with house made tonic. It's really good. Also, you should have the gnocchi.

Aka bistro in lincoln is one of the few decent places in that general area. Paani Indian on rt 20 in Sudbury is also very good. Really small place but great owners and a great atmosphere

Paani is pretty good, but I've found the Indian at the Pongal (on the Sudbury/Wayland line) to be quite impressive on the couple of occasions I've been there. My favorite Indian in the area by far.

we tried Paani last week based on this recommendation and we were impressed! A new favorite - small and cozy place but the staff are very welcoming and the food was very fresh and flavorful - you could actually pick out individual ingredients.

So happy to see this post. I just joined chowhound....looking for new places to eat in the concord area. We have been to 80 Thoreau a bunch of times. Delicious and highly recommended. Everyone seems to love the Gnochi. I like the Farm Salad....They just added Stripped Bass to the menu and that was good. Also ask for the bar menu - some great options there as well. Many people mention the noise, but it didn't bother us. We have plans to go to Aka Bistro in Lincoln next week. There is a steakhouse in a hotel in Newton that we went to last summer and loved - BOX, maybe? We've also been to Gibbits Hill in Groton, which was great. Where else?? Anything French?

I notice Harmony's Market has been closed with a sign in the door saying they are remodeling.. Seems kinda weird since they have been only been open a few months...

Saw that. They never seemed to have a crowd there, so I was wondering if it is really remodeling or something else.

Harmony Market has closed and there is a for lease sign up now( I know this is an old post but wanted to follow up.)

Bueno y Sano, a small burrito chain, is opening in the old Harmony Market space. Looks like work is progressing pretty fast.

Has anyone tried them? I've seen them in the Amherst area, and in Burlington, VT, but that's it.
