Help with Baltimore anniversary
Please help me come up with a romantic restaurant to celebrate an anniversary! We celebrated at Charleston last year and wanted to do something different this time. It doesn't need to be super fancy. We're really looking to enjoy excellent food in an intimate, romantic setting. For some reason, we're having a hard time coming up with the perfect place. Thanks in advance!!!

Woodberry Kitchen is probably my favorite place right now, but I wouldn't call it romantic. Petit Louis is really cute and the food is great. Is PierPoint still around?

Your recommendations are good based on food, but definitely not for romance. Petit Louis is very loud and bright and the tables are extremely close together.
Pierpoint has good food, but is a little rough around the edges where atmosphere is concerned.
The suggestion by kukubura regarding Tersiguel's is an option. And, it's quite true that the restaurant isn't mentioned very often.
Small Fry's rec regarding Sotto Sopra--if you mention to Ricardo (pwner/chef) that you are celebrating an anniversary then you can get one of the cozy tables in the back of the restaurant. The food is also very good.
BTW---have a very happy anniversary. FoiGras

Thanks all for the suggestions thus far! I agree with FoiGras about Gertrudes-- I think it's a place, but not special enough for an anniversary. I haven't been to the Milton Inn in ages, and have never ventured out to Oregon Grill, but if the food is only good or average, I'm not tempted to break the bank or drive all the way into the county.
The Prime Rib used to be one of our favorites. I was saddened at our last visit in April to see they significantly shortened the menu, and I was annoyed that things that used to be free (e.g., having fish prepared blackened rather than just grilled) had a new fee (which they also neglected to tell us when I ordered my fish that way). Yes, the fee was small (I think $2), but I was annoyed that it was done and with no forewarning.
We enjoyed Salt when we were there last, but I did not feel like it was romantic. And it has been a couple years since we were at b, but I don't recall that being romantic either.
Any other thoughts? Again, it doesn't need to be fancy-- just great food and in an intimate, romantic setting.
Thanks so much fellow Chowhounders!!!!

Gertrude's is quite nice, but I wouldn't consider it "romantic" nor a place to really celebrate an anniversary.
I haven't been in quite some time, but the Milton Inn is romantic. The food, if I recall, can be good or at least average. Same goes for the Oregon Grille.
The Prime Rib is an excellent choice.. FoiGras

Gertrude's at the Baltimore Museum of Art sounds quite nifty, at least according to this review in the Washington Times. But it's not the one I'm thinking of, which is more downtown and near Peabody.
