Where to bring someone as a 'thank you' in Halifax
Hi,
My husband and I are going to be in Halifax for a few days at the end of July (the weekend surrounding the U2 concert in Moncton) and will be staying with a friend who lives there. He will be giving us a place to rest our heads and will be lending us his car, acting as occasional chauffeur, playing tour guide and other nice things. We are coming from Montreal and he is originally from Montreal.
In my mind, nothing says 'thank you' like a good meal and maybe a good beer.
Bearing in mind that I don't plan on bringing super formal clothes (at most formal, I am willing to bring a summer dress), where should we take him???
I think that we would be ok with spending about $60 for a meal, including some alcohol, although if an exceptional place would cost more than that we would likely be open to it. It just may affect our post-meal-drinking-budget.
We would likely take him out on a Saturday night.
Thanks in advance for your help!

re: captain_vegetable
The most recent meal I've had that I recommend was a burger (upscale) at Grill at Cut. Cut is a very $$$$ steakhouse but the grill downstairs is much cheaper but has a great atmosphere. You can eat well with dessert and a couple beer for about $35 each.
They have a good website. If you go, know the sides are big enough to share.
