any good restaurants near Seguin / Parry Sound?

  • 7

We are going to spend a few days near the north end of Lake Joseph, are there any restaurants worth eating at?

  1. Not a one. The quality of restaurant food up there is pitiful.

Thanks for responding, Tatai. I was hoping there was even one interesting place to try....

Has anyone been to Bass Lake House Restaurant & Tavern in MacTier or should I pass on that one also?

I was there maybe three yeas ago. Everything frozen and deep-fried. Yuck. And not cheap!

    2. You can eat decently at many of the golf clubs in the Lake Joe/Rosseau area. Prices are very high, and menus are generally unadventurous (catering to the rich cottaging families) but quality is generally good, if you're not concerned with price. The Lake Joseph Club (nice setting -- right on the docks, you can boat up) and the three Deltas are a few options, as well as Windermere House, which recently became an O&B outpost, if I recall.
Taboo, in Gravenhurst, is supposed to be good but that's getting distancey. There's some okay casual eats in Port Carling if you're down that way.
Parry Sound itself is a wasteland. Believe me, I tried.

Enjoy -- it's gorgeous up there. I was lucky enough to work the summer in the area last year and I'm missing that lake right now like you wouldn't believe. ;)

Believe me, I tried too. We recently sold our cottage just south of Parry Sound and can recall maybe one or two decent meals in five years of weekending there. And those were at a restaurant that closed up a couple of years ago.

The restaurant at Delta Rocky Crest is pretty good. They allow customization and the chef's can be seen picking fresh herbs from the garden for garnish. Better than the Costco freezer fare for sure

      2. go to Crossroads in Rosseau, right on hwy 141...open for lunch and dinner, you will never be disappointed. desserts are all homemade, as well, and are amazing!
